Tides

 

And the sea came from a river

And the river came from a stream

And the stream ran through my body

Through every cell that dreamed

It was a universe in miniature

Filled with living beings.

 

And the spiral keeps on turning

From DNA to stars

From life to death to life again

Beginnings lead to endings

In the steady ceaseless movement

Of the waves upon the ocean,

And the Earth upon her journey

Through our lives.

 

When you first came to me I felt the rushing of the wind

Within the rising tide, the searing heat that made me yours

And I was lost for just one moment,

Just drifting in an ocean,

While the tides within my body rose and fell.

 

I felt you weave your spell And I was powerless to resist

Yet there is one I love, my reason begs me to desist

But your enchantment fills my being

Sears my mind and blinds my seeing
